Michael Gotthardt - The new guy for the machines
Michael Gotthardt is one of the new faces of Polifibra Folien GmbH. The 49-year-old has been operating the cutting machines in the production hall of the Limburg-based film specialist since early 2021 ensuring that Polifibra customers receive their desired cuts, products, and materials. The likeable machine operator is a trained plumber and joined Polifibra Folien GmbH as a career changer last year - a step he is not regretting at all. "The corporate culture at Polifibra is truly outstanding, my colleagues offered me a warm welcome, the job is a lot of fun, and the tasks are quite diverse." So far, Michael operates two machines in production. Ideally, it should be six by the end of the year - the new plasma machine of Polifibra Folien GmbH will then also be one of the ones in his domain.

The machine operator's area of responsibility primarily includes setting up and operating the machines depending on the order situation. Cutting widths, materials, roll cores and film lengths are to be set up, adjusted, and monitored according to customer requirements. Setting up technically high-quality cutting machines may take, depending on the order in question, a good hour or two. During the cutting process, the machine operator also takes samples for quality assurance so that requested order parameters may be checked by the QA department. After successful completion of the cutting process, the cut rolls are finally packaged and released by Michael Gotthardt into the in-house system for storage before ultimately being shipped to customers. "The tasks are varied, as each order is as individual as the customer and must be tailored, with more or less effort, to the machines accordingly," explains Michael, who is, despite not being on staff for very long, an indispensable member of the Polifibra production team. "I can't wait to get to know and operate the other and the new machines in the production park, because it makes my day-to-day work even more versatile and, in turn, I can learn something new to broaden my horizon," says the machine operator, who lives in Selters/Münster.
