Polifibra replaces Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP)

24.11.2023 - In the course of the company’s sustainable orientation and extensive investments in the energy sector, Polifibra Folien GmbH has replaced its combined heat and power plant (CHP), which has been running successfully for ten years, with an up-to-date and more energy-efficient model. In terms of performance, the new CHP increases electricity production from 15 kW to 20 kW lowering gas consumption considerably at the same time. This in turn further improves the carbon footprint of Polifibra Folien GmbH. The expected useful life of the new CHP is again set at ten years.

The CHP generates heat for heating as well as electricity for the production facilities. Any surplus electricity is fed into the power grid against payment. In total, the new CHP will generate about 90,000 kWh of electricity annually and consequently cover a significant portion of the energy required by Polifibra’s production facilities. The electricity generated by the CHP will primarily be used during the winter months and therefore ideally complements the company’s new, extensive photovoltaic system, which was also installed this year. The replacement or refurbishment of the combined heat and power plant impressively complements Polifibra’s energy-efficient and future-oriented investments in 2023 and underlines the company’s sustainable approach convincingly once again.
