25.09.2023 - Polifibra Folien GmbH resolutely pursues its sustainable and energy-efficient corporate strategy. For that purpose, the film specialist has now realized a solar project at the company’s site in Limburg an der Lahn. During construction and renovation, which lasted several months, the roof of production and warehouse was firstly fitted with a light strip followed by a new and environmentally friendly roofing film. Once finished, a photovoltaic system counting 264 solar panels with an output of 106.920 kWp was installed on the roof. This is the equivalent of an output of about 100,000 kWh as well as a CO² saving of around 58 tons annually. In addition, a 13 kW backup battery to store such energy was installed in the building.
Polifibra Managing Director Andreas Spahn is enthusiastic about the installation and commissioning of the new PV system and expects significant energy savings for the company: ‘A PV roof system is an up-to-date and climate-friendly energy solution. We think that our share of internal consumption currently amounts to approx. 25%. As our combined heat and power plant already covers part of our electricity requirements, installation of a photovoltaic system is all but a logical consequence. As a result, the newly installed PV system will enable us to run production 100% self-sufficiently.’
This future-oriented and sustainable investment frees Polifibra Folien GmbH of rising electricity prices, energy suppliers and unforeseen developments. As an independent producer of electricity with its very own PV system built on the company roof, Polifibra Folien GmbH also significantly reduces its carbon footprint. In addition to the resource-saving measures within the production processes established in recent years, Polifibra is now making another valuable contribution to climate, environmental protection and energy efficiency with the installation of its own photovoltaic system, which is fully in line with its forward-looking corporate values.
